Chris Samuels = Jim Lachey 2.0 Great tackle that has no shot at the HOF.

I agree that Samuels has no chance, but Jim Lachey was hurt, like, all the time wasn't he?

Redskins offered Campbell a 1st round tender, pretty much guaranteeing he'll be back next year.

Now all we need to do is draft Okung at 4 and start down the road to being a professional franchise!

Not necessarily. I agree with this (emphasis added by me):
Expect Jason Campbell's name to continue to be mentioned in trade rumors
Interesting story from the Cleveland Plain-Dealer this morning. The Browns reportedly are interested in trading for a quarterback rather than searching for one on free agent market. We bring this up to illustrate the nuances of the tenders issued yesterday.

Jason Campbell was given a first-round tender. The highest-tender possible would've been a first- and a third-round tender, which would've surely scared any suitors away. Even the first-round tag -- Campbell's original draft spot -- will likely keep teams from signing Campbell to an offer sheet. Draft picks are just considered too sacred these days.

But by making Campbell only a first-round tender, the Redskins save a few bucks, and they also send a subtle message to the rest of the league. While it doesn't mean the Redskins don't value Campbell, it could mean they don't value him too highly to consider trade offers. It could inspire a general manager to call Bruce Allen and see if the Redskins would settle for something via trade that's less than a first-round draft choice.

So what does it mean? Maybe not much. But just because Campbell was tendered an offer yesterday, fans shouldn't be surprised if his name is still attached to trade rumors over the next several weeks.

My expectation? I think the Redskins will end up trading Campbell on draft day for a 3 if Bradford is sitting there at 1.04.

So it begins.
Redskins to release R.Cartwright, A.Randle-El, R.Thomas

Pity, but it looks like they won't be releasing Clinton Portis or Santana Moss.

Grossman signed today. I actually like Grossman. When he was on in Chicago, he was Favrean. Actually, when he was off, he was Favrean too. I still think he's a great backup for the Skins and could start in the right offense.

The LJ move... ugh.

Why? Money's not an object. You think the team is better without him than with him? Not arguing, just curious.

I'm not a fan of bringing his baggage to DC, but I do think Dick Vermeil might be right that he could supplant Portis. Hopefully Shanahan can handle the baggage *and* any issues w/ Portis - I would bet that he can.

My take is that LJ's signing is an attack on Pinton's sense of entitlement. Pinton clearly didn't respect his RB teammates. Now that there's a threat to his carries on the team, perhaps he can have a resurgence.

That's dangerous thinking. (Sign T.O.?).

He's just a mess. I work with a diehard Chiefs fan, and have heard him vent about LJ and his antics over the years. It's also pretty telling that the Chiefs staff thought so little of him that they wouldn't allow him to break the team's all time rushing record (set by Priest Holmes, who is a class act).

Not that I know anything about running football teams. but I figure if you want to light a fire under Portis, you do it with a guy that has team attitude and a good work ethic. Don't bring in a guy with a sense of entitlement to back up a guy with a sense of entitlement.

Anyways. I don't want to stir the pot in this thread. I think the Skins have done well in the offseason so far. But the LJ move is an exception in my opinion.

No, it's cool. Just curious. He was a Nittany Lion and a JungleLord, so I'm biased.

Let's not forget the Shannahan could get one of us to rush for 1000 yards so it's not like he needed LJ specifically. I think there's no doubt that he's saying to Clinton, "Get in here or work cause I just brought on a guy in the same boat as you and I'll give it to him 250 times and he'll get me 1000 and 9 tds.

What I'd be ok with for the Redskins in the draft:

Left tackle with the first pick
Flyer on Tebow in the second round (37) if he's still there. Otherwise, please take a DB.
Have no idea after that.

I just don't know about Tebow, but drafting him would mean that Jason gets a fair shake. I'd rather have a can't-miss OT at 1.04 than Clausen, I know that.

Strangely I'm warming up to Tebow as well. Seems like maybe NFL experts are trying too hard to prove that's it isn't possible to become a "pro style" QB after being a wishbone type in college. Something about his work ethic makes me think he'll be an asset, even if QB doesn't work after a few years.

I'd add to that list a solid DB, and as many more O Line picks as possible.

BTW- what's the over/under on the spot Tebow is taken? He's been invited to NY for the draft, so the NFL must think he's going fairly early.
