that is a big blind spot in my Stephen King experience. He ahs written plenty of books that I haven't (and won't) read, but that one I really should.

he rambles, and doesn't have a good editor. And is often relating graduate-level philosophy concepts in 50 words or less. It's a tough road for the writer and the reader.

It's often a tough slog but I never miss a word. Lots of good thoughts usually.

Rewatching now. Zach and Emma, the kids from the tail of the plane, are in this ep... after Sayid is drowned, they bring in refreshments.

I noticed that too. I guess that is the best indication we have of the current time period of the island. Present day?

Just as an endorsement of this show, half the :hide: references today have Faraday'd me b/c I didn't watch Seasons 1-3. But I still love it, and I'm 100% in. And reading Doc's review today, I'm part of the folks who like this later stage of Lost that is very allusional and abstract. Plus, I hated the pilot. So I guess what I'm saying is, get abstract, I'm psyched!

Yeah, that, or like you pointed out earlier today,
Spoiler:
the flare that's also visible by smoky-Locke and crew.
I also paid more attention to the hatch which was definitely built out. It has the tunnels coming in from the sides of the crater.
Also, the underwater island is covered in barnacles and algae etc like it's been underwater for 27 years. I don't like the theory that the island "sank" though. I just can't imagine a giant stilt or something that an island would balance on. It's a sci-fi show though...
other random things I noticed:
alt-Jack had a puzzled look on his face during most of his scenes. Like something was "off" but he couldn't place what it was. Or that he was existing in 2 places at once.
As Juliette was dying in Sawyer's arms, was her rambling just part of dying, or was she in 2 places at once? Did she ever say any of that before - something about getting coffee and "we could go dutch."? If Miles was telling the truth her last words were going to be "It worked". Early in that conversation though, she was pretty devastated that Sawyer didn't get to go home. She experienced a realization of some sort.
Remember how Desmond's consciousness traveled through time? Maybe something like that's happening.
Miles seemed to be hearing something, presumably Sayid or from Sayid's body - whatever is going on there - when Hurley was telling Sayid that he was there for him if he ever needed to talk. On first viewing, I thought Miles was still freaked out that Hurley talks to dead people instead of just listening. Seemed like more the second viewing.

Per Web-

No- Miles specifically said he didn't hear anything from Sayid- a tip off that he wasn't communicating from the beyond. Kudos to my nubie wife on that one- after Miles heard Juliet, she realized right away when he didn't hear anything from Sayid.

Spoiler:
He said, "Nothing" to Hurley's question, "What?". That's not definitive - dude has a history of being closed off.

It's not a complete theory or anything, but what do you guys think of the jumping consciousness thing? Desmond got a bunch of powers when he blew up the hatch -- visions of Charlie's fate and consciousness time-travel. Juliette was in nearly the exact same spot for a very similar event. Jack and the rest were closer to the Jughead blast than anyone else was to Desmond's blast and then alt-Jack met Desmond on the plane. I'm seeing hints...

I had a long reply written out about this, but then realized it was horribly convoluted and impossible to understand. I'll just say
Spoiler:
I agree with you, it is a possibility, Juliet could have been existing in both planes(lol) during those moments.

I'm also not counting out the possibility that alt-Jack, alt-Kate, etc will all go down a path that eventually leads them back to the island (despite it being underwater during flight 815) and they will eventually merge with their non-alt selves.

Sorry, drifted back into the horribly convoluted, badly expressed thought portion.

Was trading some emails with my dad and had some ideas. May be old hat, but I don't read TVWoP or anything.

Spoiler:
We have never really seen the Whisperers before. I recall when Cindy talked to Jailed Jack at The Hydra, it almost seemed like the Others couldn't see the Whisperers.

Here's my theory: The Whisperers are the true disciples of Jacob. They seem more in tune with him and even imply that he visits them.

Meanwhile, I think The Others, knowingly or not, are disciples of the Adversary. Think about it: Ben never saw Jacob. Where did Ben's Jacob live? Incarcerated by an ash ring at a derelict cabin in the jungle. And when Locke saw CabinJacob, he appeared not as Jacob but as Christian Shepherd. Now that we have seen what we know to be the real Jacob, has he ever masqueraded as someone else? No... but The Adversary does it all the time.

I think The Adversary has been pretending to be Jacob for all this time. I think The Adversary has been giving instructions to Ben and the Others all this time. Jacob seems like a force of good. Yet, who have been his leaders of the Others? Ben. Widmore. Ellie. Killers, all of them. If those instructions ("Kill the Dharma camp with nerve gas") seem to be more in keeping with The Adversary, don't they?

Oh! Oh! And what does Ben do to Locke when Locke first joined the others? Tried to manipulate him into killing Anthony Cooper. Ben told Locke that that he must demonstrate his commitment to The Island and The Others by killing his dad. But Locke was clever and tricked Sawyer into doing it instead. Did those instructions come from CabinJacob? Who wins if Locke becomes tainted? Not Jacob I think.

Also reminds me of how the Whisperer kept trying to abduct Eko ("The Other 48 Days"). Until Eko killed one of them and the abduction attempts stopped.

You spelled "nubile" wrong.
